"This child is too young to run the country!" shouted one councilman.
"He wouldn't be running it alone." argued another, all in the presence of the child, Nikolai Kruchev. His trial decides whether he takes control of the province of which his parents owned. It was a place, up north past Roristied. It was a city known to be Golgotha, or Place of the Skull. His mother and father reigned over the lands until a sudden assassination was planned to kill them both and succeeded.
Now he stood before thirteen wise councilmen who would decide if this ten year old boy was fit to govern over the place just yet.
"Young Kruchev has no primary skills other than a few studies. If he wishes to take his fathers place, he shall have to take the same path. Nikolai Kruchev, you are hereby sentenced to roam the surrounding lands. You shall not return until you are twenty one, or you have official business."
Most persons would think of someone of royalty being pampered and so high above everyone else. This isn't true in the country of Vorz. Every man that is to have a high significant status within the country must go through a right of passage. Nikolai is no exception. Just like his father, and his father''s father, and so on and so forth, Nikolai must now live as one with the land. He must grow with it and learn when to be closest with it and when to not disturb it. He only carry's one thing with him when he embarks on his quest, and that is his sword, forged high in Golgotha's temple to The Fire Elemental. The forge at the top is said to be the breath from the god himself.
The time that Nikolai finds himself upon this community, he is eighteen years of age, only four years until he is granted to return home permanently. He doesn't give lean to anyone that he is a prince, nor does he want to be treated as a forgein diplomat. He is simply surving until he is allowed back home, but he is also getting a good inside look at his neighboring country's leaders. He knows just about which ones to befriend and which ones to stay away from.
Nikolai's most honed skills are hunting, material gathering, and crafting. He is capable of accomplishing any task given to him however.
