The troubles of a new born Engineer. [First Pages]

It's been days, I have been drawing plans and my room is filled with trashed ideas, I probably shouldn't be wasting so much paper as it is hard to come by for many people these days... These plans for a new damn "magical tower of power" is very dull, I could be building bridges and towers a long with walls of a castle but no, I am bored building some tower for magic.

More days past as I start the tower, not knowing how high I should make it, I start off with a strong base. My plans change constantly but I do not know if I should stop and stick with one. I fear I might run the forts resources out of the grounds and up to the heavens.

It's been more days since I have started construction, all done by my self, falling down constantly because of my legs not been trained in many a year. Cruel gods, they give me no support, why in the world do I even believe in them? People claim to see them but there is no proof for me, just "Oh I saw him! He gave me magical powers and I can do this and that!". Blasted liars, they can go to the End for all I care.

The tower comes nice, although the low run on regular nice red bricks have not been delivered, I guess I might have ran my first resource out... The tower goes high, high but not high enough as it seems. My superiors want higher, then want more. I told them that the higher it goes, the pattern will go broad but they do not listen. Apparently the higher, the better, the more feared it is... I call that rats bull harmony, such a dream they want but I respect it. Still I am glad, I am glad I have been tested for my skills, been drawing many designs since I was young, but many deny because they do not have the money or resources to support or pay.

I asked that my design plans be delivered to me, so they did... 2 days late and so I am behind on my work. Damn messengers, to lazy to grab fifty tons of papers for me! There goes many who ask how a I can build so fast and so "skilled", I tell them that I am not skilled as my grandfather, my great grandfather, and my great great grandfather. Although I still know my ways... I also have been criticized that the tower does not look roman and I tell them it is because I don't get my red bricks nor does it need to be roman, if it works it works. If it gives the impression that it is a tower that can mount a million ballistas then so be it. I do not care much now, although I do care that this my first design.

It is still not finished, I have paused work on the tower exterior and interior so I can draw more of the designs... Reason why? Some damn moron spilled there damn rum over half my work! Most of them were already in progress and memorized but the ones I value most have been ruined. I have not yet memorized it and it will put a larger delay then most will think. Too many people expect too many out of me, I am just one dwarf... A RANGER dwarf, one so valued in my old lands but now so little is there to me. Most do not see my skill in archery but I will prove that skill one day. Today I show my skill as an engineer and architect.

Strange, I forget to put dates on this journal... It does not matter, it will still serve well for my memories as I began to grow to be old.
